I JUST RECEIVED THIS CAMERA FROM AMAZON AND IT IS ONE FANTASTIC CAMERA.I HAVE TAKEN SHOTS WITH THE FULL ZOOM OF THE HOLLY TREE IN MY BACK YARD AND THE PICTURE IS LIFE LIKE.I ALSO TOOK A PICTURE OF A PORTAIT PICTURE THROUGH GLASS AND IT IS ALSO LIFE LIKE.THIS PICTURE QUALITY IS AWESOME.I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE.THE PRICE FROM AMAZON WAS A GREAT BUY.I AM REALLY PLEASED.CANT WAIT TO TRY IT OUT ON THE BEARS IN TENNESSE.I GIVE THIS CAMERA A BIG HIGH FIVE.

I presently own a Fuji SLR-style camera that I have had for a number of years with excellent results. Unfortunately the Fuji is a 3MP camera with only a 10x zoom and I decided it was time to move up to 12-14MP but I wanted to stay with the SLR style because age and infirmity have made me a bit fumble fingered and the tiny shirt pocket cameras are too small for me to be able to handle well. After searching for several months I came upon what I considered to be an excellent deal on this Kodak EasyShare Z981 14MP camera.It has the SLR form factor that I desired as well as 14MP, which gives me plenty of detail for enlargements and cropping. The 26x zoom was also a much desired feature. Once I received the camera I found any number of other features that I did not realize would be as important as they are. The feature I considered most important was the ability to shoot in RAW format. The RAW file extension provides the most amount of detail possible for a photograph and is far superior to .jpeg if you wish to do any image manipulation later.As an old SLR film buff, I appreciate the level of control offered by the Kodak Z981, which allows me total control of f-stop, aperture, ISO and length of exposure. While offering total control, the camera also does a great job of shooting in automatic mode as well. I have two young grandsons and sometimes you just need to grab and shoot or you miss some of the best pictures. I keep the camera set on automatic and switch to manual control when I have the time to set up the shot.The feature I have found to be my favorite addition is the stability mode. I suffer from compressive neuropathy and I have found it impossible to take even very fast shots without image blur. Imagine my joy when I cranked the telephoto out to max and fired of a shot that came back as precise as if I'd used a tripod and cable switch. The ability of this camera to give me great shots without the tripod has become my 'must have' feature in all future cameras.The only drawback with the camera is the length of time between shots--about five seconds in RAW mode. It has a feature that allows several fast shots but that feature is limited to 3MP, which diminishes it's value to me. I have not shot any pictures in .jpeg mode but I assume the processing time is much quicker in that mode as not as much information is being stored.All in all, I highly recommend the Kodak Z981 to both beginners and intermediate users.

I HAVE BEEN WATCHING THIS CAMERA FOR SOME TIME NOW, THE PRICE WAS FINALLY WRITE FOR MY POCKET BOOK. IT GIVES ME THE QUALITY, PERFORMANCE OF NEW, IF THEY HADEN'T TOLD ME THAT IT WAS REFURBISHED I WOULDN'T KNOWN. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS CAMERA TO ANY ONE FOR THE MONEY.
